Um, G. W. Bush turned America into a shell of its former self on the world stage. Massive budget surpluses turned into deficit. War of choice founded on lies. Extra-judicial renditions. Warrentless wiretaps. Torture as standard operating procedure. Failed Katrina response. Criminal corruption of the DOJ. Watergate looks like childsplay compared to these disasters I don't want my kids growing up in this degraded America either.

p.s. this is a worthless out-of-context clip. Get an argument.

Gerik,
Parroting those far left liberal talking points that have no validity fails to make an argument.

They are all things that are true and have happened, they are not talking points.

The budget. The war. The kidnapping. The wiretaps. The torture. Katrina. The indictment.

They all constitute an argument that America is not living up to what it could be. Is this a portrait of a county's behavior that you support?

Gerik,
I'm sad that you hate America so much. First off, yes the budget is a problem and I would agree that spending has been out of control and blame Bush and the Republicans for allowing it to happen. However, let me address the remainder of your issues.

I've written about much of what you claim to be horrible offenses of the Bush Administration. I'm linking to them with a few new comments.

The war - The intelligence we had at the time pointed to Iraq being a huge threat with WMDs. There was a bipartisan vote to allow the pre-emptive strike. In addition, the Clinton administration and most democrats spoke about WMD in Iraq in the 1990s and early 2000s. It was also important to establish stability in the region to help with the free flow of oil. We can argue that this has not happened yet, but it will in time.

Wiretaps - The wiretaps are only to listen to suspected terrorists in the US or another country. I'm pretty sure they haven't listened to me and my wife discussing who's picking up our son from practice.

Torture - To claim the US didn't use torture until Bush became President is ignorant. The fact is, water boarding works. Do you really think we would continue using it if it didn't? Or do you think the military and the Bush administration get their jollies out of torturing people. Don't forget the people subject to the torture would think nothing of cutting your head off and killing all Americans.

Katrina - To blame Bush for the problems in Katrina is also ignorant. The Democrat Governor and Democrat mayor and Democrat city government were incompetent at best and probably corrupt.

Regarding «the indictment» and «the kidnapping», I have no idea what you are talking about.

Ahh yes, Gerik, that old Leftist chestnut: blame-America-first-unless-there's-a-Democrat-in-charge.

Nice littany of grievance. You also forgot the 2000 election «stolen» from Algore at the behest of Georgie's bro, Jeb.

As a thought exercise, let's imagine that Algore had actually become president after the 2000 election. Let's imagine that he had faced the unprecedented challenge following September 11. Now let's imagine that Algore had done what any reasonable leader would have on September 12 -- go after Al Qaida and do everything in his power to ensure that it didn't happen again. He would have done everything that Bush has done to secure the country. And you wouldn't have whined a bit. Instead, you would have praised his wisdom and courage

Doubt me? Check history. Dems have done all that and so much more.

American Internment camps for people of German and Japanese descent during WW2?? -- FDR (a dem)

Domestic spying? JFK (dem) had lil' brother RFK (dem) wiretap Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights leaders.

I could go on... but the facts have little to do with the «Bush lied people died» trope into which liberals shoe-horn every real or imagined transgression committed by non-Democrats, so why bother?
