Hammond Eggs 6/26/08

Andy's random thoughts and comments for 6/28/08

  • The Supreme Court finally made a good decision this session, protecting the 2nd Amendment.  I'm concerned it was a 5-4 decision, however.
  • What the heck is behind Bush lifting sanctions against North Korea??!!
  • I wonder what Hillary promised Obama to get him to help her pay off her campaign debt?
  • Are the people in San Fransisco still in Junior High?  They are pushing an initiative that will name a sewage treatment plant after President Bush.
  • The Democrats have completely messed up the economy since they took over congress.  The Dow dropped over 300 points today and oil prices continue to rise.

Yes, it was a good decision by the Supreme Court.

I guess George realizes that «talking» actually may help. It sure helped Ronald during the cold war.

Obama owes Hillary nothing.

I think they may have graduated Junior High, and have moved on to High School.

Why do you continuously blame the Democrats over the economy? Let me give you some stats to ponder over.

UNEMPLOYMENT
5.7 million unemployed-Before George took his oath.
7.7 million unemployed-Today
HOUSEHOLD INCOME
$49,163-Before George took his oath
$48,023-Today
HEALTH INSURANCE
38 million uninsured-Before George took his oath
47 million uninsured-Today
POVERTY
31.6 million-Before George took his oath
36.5 million-Today
JOBS CREATED
22.7 million over Clinton's 8 years
6 million over Georgies 7 years
REAL GDP GROWTH
3.6% over Clinton's 8 years
2.6% over Georgies 7 years
NATIONAL DEBT
$5.7 Trillion-Before George took his oath
$10.3 Trillion (projected) when George leaves office.

Now if I remember correctly...The Democrats took over congress on November 9th, 2006. That is 2 & 1/2 years compared to 4 years that Republicans controlled it. The damage was already done before 11/09/06.

Besides the fact that the Democratic Congress has done nothing to STOP the economy from sliding, they are the reason why it has tanked. Nobody, from the man on the street to the man on Wall Street, has any faith in the Democrats. That's why the economy is collapsing. It's a vote of no confidence in two years of Democrat rule.

Nancy—be serious.
Harry—a joke.
Barney—yuck!

Tina--

Could you provide a link for those stats?

Thanks.

Have this stat please: 73% of Montana voters think country is on wrong track (May, 2008 poll by Billings Gazette). Need more proof of what Democrats have done to America in nearly two years?

Codelia, all you have to do is google the question.

Wang, Montana and the Nation as a whole thinks the country is on the wrong track. The decline started in August of 2002, where it took its biggest 12% drop, it has been declining ever since.

The only point that I'm trying to make is, why put so much blame on a 2 & 1/2 year time span when we should actually be looking at the surplus that George started with in 2000. The economy as a whole took a huge hit on Sept 11th, but it actually started to decline in June of 2000, two months prior.

Tina,
The fiscal year of the US Government is October 1 through September 30 so the budget and economic policies that you say above, «started to decline in June of 2000», were Bill Clinton's.

Sorry it should say June 2001, two months prior to Sept. 11th. Its a typo error.

Tina,
It was still Clinton's budget and policies in June 2001. Clinton finished his second term January 2001. His last budget was approved October 1, 2000 and ran through September 30, 2001.

Bush's budgets and policies were in place October 1, 2001 from which we experienced and enjoyed a very strong and robust economy until the Democrats took over congress January 2007 and started influencing the budget and economic policies.

Tina,
I would challenge you to re look at your statistics in your first comment. Rather then compare the numbers to today, compare them to the date before the Democrats regained Congress.

Andy I will do some more reading, and I can see exactly what your trying to say, but its harder for the Democrats to change the path that we were already on. Therefore, I can't just point my finger and blame them.

Wang, I don't know how to take your comment. I thought that FDR was a good President from what I have read. And I hope your misspelling of his name was not intentional. Or are you trying to make some racist comment towards Jews? Please clarify as I don't want to make an unjust opinion.

Sorry Tina,

I can google stats til the cows come home, and come up with different ones that support Bush and ones that don't support him.

I'm interested in where YOU got your source.

Otherwise you're just spewing more leftist rhetoric and talking points...

Blah, blah, blah,...»no blood for oil»...blah, blah, blah...

Cordelia, I'm sure your right, I started with http://www.thetruthaboutgeorge.com

Then I googled the question «the economy since the democrats took over,» and «the economy since George Bush took office.» This is where most of those stats come from. I'm not spewing anything other than I'm looking at a longer amount of time then Andy is. Its a very well known fact that George was handed a huge surplus and now there is nothing left, and it started way before the Democrats took over congress.

Tina,
Actually it is a myth that Clinton left Bush a surplus. Admittedly, I'm linking to a right wing web site for support.

Verifying this is as simple as accessing the U.S. Treasury website where the national debt is updated daily and a history of the debt since January 1993 can be obtained. Considering the government's fiscal year ends on the last day of September each year, and considering Clinton's budget proposal in 1993 took effect in October 1993 and concluded September 1994 (FY1994), here's the national debt at the end of each year of Clinton Budgets:

Fiscal
Year
Ending National Debt Deficit
FY1993 09/30/1993 $4.411488 trillion
FY1994 09/30/1994 $4.692749 trillion $281.26 billion
FY1995 09/29/1995 $4.973982 trillion $281.23 billion
FY1996 09/30/1996 $5.224810 trillion $250.83 billion
FY1997 09/30/1997 $5.413146 trillion $188.34 billion
FY1998 09/30/1998 $5.526193 trillion $113.05 billion
FY1999 09/30/1999 $5.656270 trillion $130.08 billion
FY2000 09/29/2000 $5.674178 trillion $17.91 billion
FY2001 09/28/2001 $5.807463 trillion $133.29 billion

As can clearly be seen, in no year did the national debt go down, nor did Clinton leave President Bush with a budget surplus that Bush subsequently turned into a deficit. Yes, the budget was almost balanced in FY2000 (ending in September 2000 with a deficit of «only» $17.9 billion), but it never reached zero--let alone a positive number. And Clinton's last budget proposal for FY2001, which ended in September 2001, generated a $133.29 billion deficit. The growing deficits started in the year of the last Clinton budget, not in the first year of the Bush administration.

Sorry about the table not copying well. But it still makes the point.

Tina: Big surprise! Jews are not a race!

But how would somebody who reads thetruthaboutgeorge know that?

Gravatar #17. tina in montana

Wang, I beg to differ. I know several people that are Jewish by nationality and not religion.

Tina,

Jewish by nationality? Where is that nation? Perhaps Israel?

So the Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Bahai' Faith, and Druze that live in Israel are all Jewish?

I'm glad you're begging to be different.

Tina,

You're a joke that was never funny.

For your understanding, perhaps you might think of Jews as being a big family.
