Dems Biggest Loser Endorses Obama

George McGovern, the biggest loser ever to run for President as a Democrat, officially switched his support from Hillary to Obama yesterday.

For those too young to remember, McGovern was an antiwar Liberal running against Nixon in 1972. He lost every state except one, Massachusetts, and couldn't even win his home state, South Dakota. He also lost by a 23.2% margin in the popular vote.

You know he is hoping that by endorsing Obama, his loss won't look so bad when compared to Obama's in 2008.

You're just soooo cute and adorable, I just don't know what to do...

A lesson that some Conservatives seem to miss about the 1972 Presidential election is that the biggest loser that year wasn't George McGovern, but Richard Milhous Nixon for the crimes and cover-up that were committed by his White House during that election at the Watergate Hotel and elsewhere.

Just so you know, Nixon had to resign the Presidency in disgrace, so far the only American President that brought such a dishonor to the American people.

If that's not being a 'loser' I'd like to see what your definition of 'victory' is.

And if you think that Obama's landslide victory this fall will be any less than Reaganesque in it breadth and depth I'd like to have whatever it is you've been drinking.

Or not, I understand that Kool-Aid isn't the healthiest drink out there.

...and yet McGovern still lost to him.

I often wondered why Nixon's people did their crimes when they'd have won easily anyway.

And to Nyc Labrets- Yes, Nixon had to resign. Can you name another President who was impeached?

Nixon was never impeached, dummy.

I stand corrected. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were the only Presidents impeached. I'm guessing Nixon would have been, had he not resigned first.

NYC - when Clinton was impeached the 'jury' did not vote the poinit of law that was presented. He was guilty of the charges presented, but was allowed to walk by a baised jury. If that were to happen in an actual court of law the judge would have used his power to intervene and have overturned the verdict.

RMN was not a shiny penny, either. But he did set the stage for the downfall of the Soviet Union by exchanging wheat for gold. He also opened up China and got us started out of the JFK-LBJ situation in SE Asia. You could argue the China relationship.

Cliniton never did win the popular vote and if not for Perot probably would not have been elected the first time. Bush did get the popular vote in 2004.

So, how do the DEMS keep loosing to these guys if the REPS are sooooo bad?

I meant to say a majority of the popular vote, over 50%, but JFK didn't get that either.
