UM Protesters Get Suspended - Well, Sorta
Well, the UM Protesters got a three day suspension for violating the school's Student Conduct Code. They get to pick the three days so as not to inconvenience the students themselves too much. So that's nice. They got off pretty easy.
Prairie Wolfe, however, thinks it's too much and seems surprised they even have to pay a price for violating the Student Conduct Code.
Prairie Wolfe said she is still mulling over the three-day suspension she was handed on Tuesday.
«I'm not really sure what to make of this. We do still have the ability to appeal,» said the 21-year-old ecology major. «I'm not sure how I feel about the suspensions at this point.»
At times in her meeting, Wolfe said, she was frustrated by Couture's patronizing tone.
«He was trying to get us to admit that we were at fault and that what we did was not a mature decision. He was inferring that we weren't mature enough make our own decisions,» she said. «To me, that is personally insulting. To us, this was an adult, mature decision.
«In our country of democracy, this is how things get changed. You have to bring attention to injustice and if people don't listen to more diplomatic ways, then you have to step up your action.»
«We don't plan on fading into the background,» she said. «However, we didn't expect a liberal arts university to suspend students for thinking critically and having the motivation to take change into their own hands.»
Down with the Man!
So now that they've been suspended and Dennison is refusing to sign the anti-sweatshop policy because of antitrust concerns, what are these brave protesters going to do now?

Poor Prairie Wolfe, I'm sorry she can't handle being patronized. That must be so frustrating for her. Perhaps next time she breaks the law we can give her a free pass as everybody knows we need to judge her on her thoughts, not her actions.
Doggone it anyway, it just ain't fair!

Suspended for three days? Of their own choosing?
We used to just call that skipping school.

Damn, Steve. Way to throw your fellow Missoula Republican candidates under a bus.

How's that reading comprehension course coming? Have you even started it yet?

It's just fine, Steve. When are you going to learn even basic logic? That's the real question.

After all, aren't you the one who draws a public paycheck? Just wondering ...

Steve-- Pay no attention to «Wulfgar.» As someone recently commented, «[Wulfgar is] an angry little man with a computer - sort of like a Jack Russell terrier yapping at your ankles.»
But even little dogs have teeth, so it is no surprise that some people actually find «Wulfgar» (Rob Kailey) slightly threatening. But those of us who are familiar with him know that he is actually the Walter Mitty of the blogosphere. In real life, he is merely a harmless little clerk toiling away in a state university bookstore.
Besides playing the Montana Mountain Man, or a variation on it called the Foul-Talking Gun-Toting Redneck, one of Walter's favorite fantasy roles is the Philosopher King. In this role, he sheds his macho working-class persona and affects the speech and demeanor of a modern-day Socrates, whose only interest is to examine the logical foundation of an idea. He has no hidden agenda, no preconceived notions, only an abiding desire to seek the truth.
