What??!! Pool Fees to Increase??!!
Now that we they have this new and very expensive swimming pool, many members of the Missoula Aquatic Club are complaining that their pool fees are going to increase!
Swimmers and their parents told the council on Monday that they already helped pay for the pool, which is expected to open this season. If rent costs too much, they said they won't be able to swim there. Members of the Missoula Aquatic Club said a price hike will hurt families' pocketbooks and could compromise the team's training if it prices them out.
While I sympathize with their concerns, what did they expect? They got a brand new state of the art competitive swimming pool that was heavily subsidized by Missoula taxpayers. Did they seriously think their fees would remain the same as with the old outdated pool?
Another perfect example of how the Liberal mind thinks or fails to think.

Mr. Hammond, Just how is this «another perfect example of how the Liberal mind thinks or fails to think?» Are you saying all the members of the Missoula Aquatic Club are «liberals?» How in the world do you know the political leanings of all members of the Missoula Aquatic Club? Are all swimmers «liberals.»

I'm assuming the members who are complaining are liberals because that is how they think. Conservatives simply don't think this way. We don't expect to get something for nothing or expect others to pay for it.
I know for a fact there are many members of the aquatic club who are conservatives who fully expected the fees to increase and are not the ones complaining. I am only talking about the ones complaining.
Nice try, Matthew.

OK...I should have known you were the all knowing one, especially considering the depth of your analysis. Sorry about that. By the way, I consider myself progressive (is that maybe even left of «liberal?») and I think that the users of the pool facility should pay more of the fees. I'm a homeowner and while my property taxes went to support the pool facility I will never use them. I also pay $1000 in property taxes per year for the public school system (nearly half of my property taxes) and my wife and I will never have kids, as I've been «fixed» for 10 years. I'm also a certified secondary history and English teacher and consider myself pro-education, so I obviously understand the importance of a community supporting a quality education for youngsters. Yet at the same time it doesn't seem fair for me to pay over $50,000 in taxes towards our public school system over the next 50 years without putting a kid through the schools, while I subsidize the education costs of a family living outside of the city limits in a 5000 square foot house with 5 kids. So what do these few examples do to your over-simplified view of «liberal» versus «conservative?»

Hey Andy, You ever going to get around to posting my comments in response? Or is that just the way you play? Thanks.
