My Sincere Gratitude on Veteran's Day
Thank you to all veterans on this day. Especially to my Grandfathers, one who proudly served in WWI, one who proudly served in WWII, and my father who proudly served in Viet Nam.

Thanks for the sentiments concerning veterans. As a Missoula Veteran of Viet Nam, I greatly appreciate the feeling os those like you. If you will notice, over at Move On's blogs, LITW and Montana Netroots, they haven't said a thing. Kinda puts things in prospestive, huh?

ayn,
I politely let them know over at Montana Netroots, I think they forgot.

isn't it intersting that they ( the dark side ) make fun of the fact you even brouoght it up. They truely are anti military including Moveon Shane, a former marine, so he says. I'm not quite convinces unless he has memories of being the house mouse.

Shane is certainly dumb enough to have been a Marine but nowhere near man enough.

Because it's not a post on a blog, it's forgotten?
And the assumption that if you're a democrat or lean left you're anti-military?
Come on guys, that's the same as the BS stereotype that the left gives you - that you're child starving money grubbers.
There are a few too many assumptions as to what «the dark side» is doing.
To our Vets on here: Thank you, and God bless.

I was just having a little stereotypical fun with them. I did it knowing I was going to stir up a hornets nest.

That's why you're getting this sort of response, Andy. You posted that comment on Netroots not out of any sincere feelings for our country or its servicemen, despite the title of your post here, but just to raise a stink among your political opponents. This behavior is the worst sort of sham patriotism. Of course many of us on the left have ties to the military. My father was a veteran of WW II who lived in the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls for twelve years. Two of my uncles served in Vietnam, and one lost his life in that war.
The decision to post about Veterans Day on a blog is no more indicative of personal patriotism than someone who decides to take advantage of those super-duper Veterans Day sales at the mall. No one should have to defend their creative process to you.
Moorcat posted about your comment on his blog. I added the following there, but I thought I would reach out to you here at your place with this message:
I certainly hope you took your well-founded concern for veterans and did something useful with it today other than rile complete strangers. You know, like volunteer at a VA hospital or donate to veterans' support groups. For instance, the folks living in the Montana Veterans Home in welcome friendly visitors. You can contact the home to see where your volunteer services are needed the most. The phone number is 406-892-3256.

Wow! all the self serving comments. Almost like when you only hear patriotism from the left when it is preceded by «impuning my»
BTW I am a veteran, but that's what anonymity brings. heh heh

Rebecca,
I went out and spent money on those super duper Veterans Day Sales yesterday. I contributed to growing our wonderful capitalist economy that our Veterans have fought to defend throughout the years. I also honored my grandfathers' grave sites and spoke with my father.
This in addition to my regular contribution to a certain POW/MIA veterans organization. My grandfather was a POW in WWII.
Thanks for your «advice». Nice try on the guilt trip.

Anytime, Andy. I was going to break out Samuel Johnson's «patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel», but that's giving the two of you more credit than you deserve.
