Sex or Groceries, What a Dilemma!
In the hard copy of the Missoulian yesterday, Beth Cogswell, director of communications for Planned Parenthood of Montana, lamented the rising cost of birth control for University of Montana students. Now these poor women will have to choose between buying groceries or birth control.
For University of Montana students, $50 used to buy groceries. Now it means the cost of birth control
For a college student who has to think twice about paying more than $5 for a meal, or a low-income mother who has to choose between buying groceries and buying gas, the difficutlies of living on a limited budget are painfully real. This year, an additional and unexpected expense has been added to many women's budgets - the higher price of birth control.
Sex or groceries, hmm what a dilemma. Give me a break.
I said it before: Try abstinence, it's FREE! Rather then complain about a government subsidy paid for by the taxpayers to allow them to have birth control, maybe they should grow up and take on the responsibility themselves and figure out a way to pay for it themselves if it's that important or practice self control and quit having sex. It's not that difficult.

Andy, are you really ignorant enough to not understand that birth control is used for THINGS OTHER THAN SEX!
Do a little reading on the subject and then try again.

Andrew - abstinence may be the norm for you, but try being a young and vital kid.

Andy, I posted a comment about this, but apparently it got snagged by your spam filter. I pointed out that people use birth control pills for a myriad of health concerns other than preventing pregnancy. There are needs to take birth control for considerations other than intercourse. I linked to a page describing these uses. I suggest you take a look into this before you accuse people and pretend to know their motivations.

Mark,
I was once a young and vital kid who looked for the same in the opposite sex. I am not preaching abstinence, I am simply saying the taxpayer should not be subsidizing birth control medication. I really don't care what they are doing, just don't look to me for birth control.

OK Colby so it helps with menstrual cramps, PCOS, and acne. I have not seen or heard any of the people complaining about the issue bring up these other uses of birth control pills.
We all know it's 90% about sex and birth control, just as Cogswell states above.
